Karen Marie Villanueva is a native of the Philippine Islands although she has lived in the U.S. for most of her life. Karen is a licensed Master Esthetician and certified in Laser & Light Therapy. She studied at the Virginia Institute of Esthetics and has been an esthetician for two years.

2009 Hair Notes

For 2009 hair should be modern updates of classic styles. The runways all are hearkening back to latter days while giving an edge to the looks at the same time.

The styles at Betsy Johnson were reminiscent of 70's glamour; movement and body throughout and curls at the end. Phi's show had hair parted down the middle and sleek, not a far cry from the looks of the 60's. The pony tails were classic, with a little volume on top to give the shape something new.

Kim Vo, stylist to the stars, says that hair color is going back to natural hues for spring and summer. "As the days grow shorter, we're moving in a direction that looks positively natural," Vo told American Salon magazine. He has worked with Britney Spears, Kate Walsh, and Jessica Alba.

We're inclined to agree! The main thing to remember for this year is that whatever you do, make sure it looks great on you - no matter if it is in style or not. All looks should feel that they have an ease. They should be polished, but a little messy around the edges like you did not have to try too hard to look fabulous!
