When Diane Angelos started planning her wedding, she did more than try on gowns and pick out bridesmaid dresses. She started taking care of her skin.

"I really want to look good for my wedding," said Angelos, 36, who is planning an October ceremony. "So I thought I better start taking care of myself."

Angelos headed to Spa Phoenix, where she has undergone two months of facial "powerpeels" and other treatments. Her regimen started with once-a-week treatments for four weeks, and now has moved to once a week for maintenance. "I can really see a difference in my skin," Angelos said. "I can walk around without makeup on now."

Spa Phoenix opened in March on Republic Road after eight months of planning and building, costing more than $2 million. Cindy and Matthew Galumbeck opened the spa together to offer several treatments in one place.

The building houses five treatment rooms, two locker rooms, a conference room and a plastic surgery center, complete with two operating rooms.

Cindy Galumbeck, who is also a child psychiatrist, and runs her practice out of the spa building part-time, is the director of the medically-supervised day spa. Her husband, Matthew, 36, is the plastic surgeon and medical supervisor on site.

Together, they offer services from massage and facial peels to laser hair removal and cosmetic plastic surgery. "We wanted to give people more of an option than just facial peels," said Cindy Galumbeck, 37, of the Oceanfront. "It's like a one-stop shop for looking and feeling great."

Angelos agreed. "I am going to start the massage sessions soon," she said. "And then I might head over to the surgical side to get a little work done here or there."

Prices for facial peels start at $50 and body treatments, including exfoliating, masks and wraps start at $45. Massages start at $55. Customized packages are also available. Spa Phoenix also offers La Stone Therapy, or thermotherapy, which uses heated and cooled stones for healing purposes.

"We want to do things that are good for you and make you feel good, too," said Cindy Galumbeck. "We want to take care of everybody and give them the things they want instead of just telling them this is what we have."
